For my documentary i am going to film it about dog attacks and the majority of it being about the story of my brother who was attacked earlier last year. The type of documentary i am going to make is a mixed documentary; I will use a combination of interviews, observation, actuality footage and narration to create my documentary. However i will be using some techniques that are used in a docudrama; because i will film a re construction of the re-anactment of the actual event.
The type of documentary i feel is quite a serious one, so would be placed on a television programme like BBC 2, or ITV 1. I am going to film My brother, my mum, a doctor from the hospital where louis (My brother) was after the attack, and i will also storyboard the event and re-enact it with actors.
The target audience for the documentary i am going to film will be for ages 14+, i have chosen this age group because at the time my brother was 12 years old and he is nearly 14, with a target audience of this age group i feel it is suitable because of how old my brother is; also because i don't think anyone younger would watch the documentary and anyone older than 14 will understand it.
Other programmes similar to the documentary i am going to film is inside out, although my documentary wont have two different documentaries it will have a re-anactment of the event. My brother has already agreed to be interviewed and to be filmed; also my mum. I need permission off the man that helped louis to be interviewed and also the doctor from Manchester Royal Infirmary.
By interviewing my brother and my mum, i will get the same story however from a completely different concept. For example, when i interview my brother, he will talk about the attack affected him at the time and he is now and how it had a massive impact on his life. Where as when i interview my mum, she will talk about how much it affected louis but also how it affected the family. So i feel for my mum it will be harder for her to talk about it and also be a little emotional; however this will make a good documentary.
My goal for when i create my documentary is for it be a serious and emotional one, and hopefully everyone that i interview will agree that all dogs should be licensed and agree that by bringing up a dog the correct way, could actually save someones life. At the end of each interview i will ask the same question "do you think all dogs should be licensed?" if all of my interviewees agree that dogs should be licensed, i feel like i would of reached my goal.
